Add a monitoring alert to a SIM group
Monitoring alerts enable you to send automated email notifications when SIM data usage exceeds an upper or lower threshold.
For example, you might want to send notifications when data usage:
- Approaches the maximum allowed for a rate plan
- Exceeds the maximum allowed for a rate plan
Note: SIMs are not automatically barred when they exceed a defined usage threshold. The account holder should take appropriate action when an alert is triggered.
You can apply monitoring alerts at different levels, such as individual SIMs, SIM groups, or the entire company. For detailed information about monitoring alert options, see the section Monitoring alerts.
Follow this procedure to set up a monitoring alert for a SIM group.
1. Go to the SIMs > Groups page, and then select the Add Alert button for a SIM group.
Result: The platform displays the Add Monitoring Alert form.
2. Select a Threshold Type. For a SIM group, you can set up the following types:
- SIM Group (Aggregated)—The combined data usage for all SIMs in the group triggers the alert.
- SIM Group (Individual)—The data usage of any individual SIM in the group triggers the alert.
3. Select a SIM group, or keep your previous selection from step 1.
4. Enter the lower and upper threshold values.
5. Select the Add button.
Result: The platform displays the list of SIM groups and shows the new values for the selected group.
Warning:If you want to change or remove the new monitoring alert, do not select the Delete button on the list of SIM groups. This button deletes the SIM group, not the monitoring alert.
Instead, go to Services > Monitoring Alerts, and then remove the alert from the list of Current Monitoring Alerts. For more information, see the section Monitoring alerts.
